Kathleen Turner Overdrive (KTO) is a femme-fronted, four-piece, melodic punk band with members Lizzard, Mark, Adzilla and Ollie based across Toowoomba and Brisbane, Australia. Our influences are diverse, including The Clash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, X-Ray Spex, Blondie, Radio Birdman, The Celibate Rifles and Iron Maiden to name a few.
Described as ‘relevant and tribal’ by Noise Pollution, KTO creates songs about current affairs, social justice, the human condition, the pop culture they love and for dancing to!
KTO music regularly appears on independent music charts across the world, including the number 1 spot on many such as the Atomic Top 20, the Sunset Island Music Café World Top 30 and the Radio Marlab Daily Top 10. KTO ranked 33rd in 2022, 11th in 2023, and 9th in 2024 on the 4ZZZ Hot 100, KTO was also the station’s 17th most-played artist in 2023. Similarly, their song ‘Gurlizilla’ secured 17th position on the 2024 ‘Atomic 100’, with two other tunes claiming spots 59 and 47 on the 2025 chart.
In 2023 KTO played shows in Canda, Costa Rica and the east coast of Australia and was invited to support legendary Australian band 'Lime Spiders' at three shows. In 2025 KTO was honored to be invited to open the Brisbane show for British act 'New Model Army'. KTO will be performing on the bill alongside iconic Aussie band 'You Am I' at the Rockin 4 the Homeless in June 2025.
KTO believes in proactive engagement and regularly participates in charity events such as Rock Beats Depression. As such, the band was excited to be invited to perform in Davenport, Iowa, at Punk in the Corn in October 2025. This event promotes diversity, inclusion and independent music, whilst raising funds for several mental health charities.
With 2 EPs under their belt, gaining over 100 000 streams on Spotify (no pay for plays), and their first album, ‘A Safe Space for Cryptids’ due for release in August 2025, watch out because KTO is hitting overdrive!
